Attendance & Regalia Information

All Faculty are welcome to attend the Recognition Event:

Saturday, December 19, 2009
Barton Hall
9:45-9:55am - Faculty line up for Procession
10:00-11:15am - Formal Program
11:15am-Noon - Reception with coffee & pastries

We encourage participation in the formal procession (wearing regalia), or you may attend as part of the audience.

Ceremony Instructions

If you plan to process, please arrive at Barton Hall by 9:45am at the latest to line up for the procession. Enter at the Garden Avenue side of Barton Hall and turn right, just inside the entrance. Continue walking towards the right side of the room to join the faculty section for the procession. Ushers wearing red jackets will direct you, so feel free to ask where you are to line up for the procession.

Attendance & Regalia

To help us with our planning, we need to know if you will participate in the formal procession, wearing regalia. Faculty may borrow regalia (cap, gown & hood) at no charge, and return it at the Barton Hall Blockhouse immediately following the event.

Please complete the online registration & regalia form by December 8th to indicate your attendance. Be sure to complete the regalia section of the form if you need to borrow any pieces of regalia. You are welcome to wear your own hood with borrowed Cornell regalia, if you would like.

Regalia Pick-up

To pick up your ordered cap, gown and hood, go to Teagle Hall, Multi-purpose Room (Thursday and Friday). Enter Teagle from the parking lot between Lynah Rink and Teagle, turn left and go to the end of the hallway. The pick-up location on Saturday is Barton Hall.

Teagle Hall - Thursday, December 17, 10:00am-4:00pm
Teagle Hall - Friday, December 18, 10:00am-4:00pm
Barton Hall - Saturday, December 19, 9:00-10:00am

We encourage you to consider going to the distribution site yourself to try on the mortar board and gown to ensure the correct size. The Commencement Office does not have the staff available to deliver or pick up your borrowed regalia.

As always, this distribution process is coordinated and manned strictly by Cornell University staff volunteers. Thank you for assisting the Office of Commencement Events in making this process as smooth as possible.

Regalia Return on Saturday

Please return your borrowed regalia on Saturday, inside Barton Hall, immediately following the event on Saturday. Look for the Faculty Return area, close to where you will lineup for the procession.

Parking Information

Central campus will be open to all traffic and parking will be available to all, no matter what area your permit is for.
