PhD Hooding Ceremony - Saturday, May 25

PhD degree candidates are invited to attend the PhD Hooding Ceremony and reception in Barton Hall on Saturday, May 25.

Commencement Ceremony - Sunday, May 26

All graduate degree candidates, PhD and Master, are expected to participate in the University Commencement Ceremony. Candidates will gather on the Arts Quad by 9:15am wearing cap, tassel, gown and hood, to line up for the procession to Schoellkopf Stadium.

Following the University Commencement Ceremony at Schoellkopf Stadium, field receptions are held for graduates and their families at various locations.

Who May Participate

• Eligible:
  August 2012, January 2013, and May 2013 degree recipients may attend. Review deadlines posted on the Graduate School website.
• Walking Early:
  Graduate students wishing to participate in the University Commencement Ceremony but are not academically eligible, may do so. You will need to obtain a commencement packet (see below), order your cap & gown (see below), and let your field know that you would like to participate in the field reception.

Cap and Gown

Appropriate academic regalia must be worn by degree candidates.

• Rent: To rent regalia, order online by April 15. Borrowed regalia must be returned following Commencement events.
• Purchase: PhD candidates have the option to purchase regalia to own. If purchasing, order online by April 1 to allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.

Commencement Packet

Commencement packets with severe weather tickets are not mailed to parents of graduate students. Please review instructions of how to obtain a commencement packet.

Commencement Program

• August & January graduates' names are automatically included in each year's Commencement Program.
• May candidates should review instructions for getting your name listed in the Commencement Program.

Diplomas

Candidates who complete degree requirements and deadlines may receive their diploma at field receptions following University Commencement. Diplomas may also be mailed.
